RVRR is the USA team in M60RICCONE, ITALY - A little thunder and lightning wind storm didn't dampen the determination of the Raritan Valley Road Runners M60 team here at the World Association of Masters Athletes biennial world championships. The major storm caused the rescheduling of the cross country meet from Tuesday, September 2nd to Saturday September 8th. The RVRR club was represented by Doug Brown of East Brunswick, Terry Delph and Amby Burfoot, both of Pennsylvania and members of the New Jersey association. Out of 67 competitors in the M60 race, Burfoot finished the estimated 7.2 to 7.5 kilometer course in 29:00 for 10th place. He was just eight seconds ahead of Delph who finished in twelfth place in 29:08 . Brown finished in 31:20 in 35th place. All three RVRR men were scoring members of the USA team, which is extraordinary for a world meet when athletes are drawn from all corners of the country. The team finished just out of the medals, in fourth place. |
